…As Agency’s Sports Club Elections Hold in Abuja.
National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer, NEPAD Nigeria, Princess Gloria Akobundu has stressed the role of sports as an instrument for integration and cooperation among the diverse peoples of the world
Addressing participants at the end of the elections organized to elect a new set of Executive officials of NEPAD Nigeria Sport Club at the NEPAD Nigeria Office, Thursday, the CEO commended participants at the elections for the peaceful atmosphere that had pervaded the entire Agency during the electioneering campaigns and the elections proper; while stressing that such unity and maturity that were exhibited during the processes were pointers that victory was sure in the next round of competitions in the Federal public service Games for Team NEPAD.
Continuing, the NEPAD Nigeria boss added:’’ On behalf of the Management of NEPAD Nigeria, I wish to express our solid support for you and your activities. With what we have seen today, I am sure that we can even engage in continental games, which are around the corner and win laurels that will make us proud. We cannot overemphasize the benefits of sports to man and its ability to make for integration and cooperation among people and will, therefore, do everything within reach to sustain the tempo that you have built here today’ The CEO promised to work with the newly elected Executive officials and said that a day would be set aside to meet with the new Exco.
Expressing appreciation for the support of the NEPAD Nigeria CEO to the Agency’s Sports Club, a member of the National Executive of the Federal Public Service Games, Gadamosi Olawele, who along his counterpart, Ogbe James, had been delegated by the national body to observe the elections at NEPAD Nigeria, commended the CEO for the renewed interest and support the Agency was beginning to demonstrate for sports as had been shown by the high number of participants in the elections. He, however, appealed to the NEPAD boss to further support the Agency’s Sports Club to participate in large numbers in the activities of the national body, which he said, comes up periodically.
Among those elected to champion the interest of the Agency’s Sports Club in the next four years are: Oboni Johnson- Team Manager,Muhammad Ismail Abubakar- Assistant Team Manager. Nwaorgu Timothy -Secretary, Mbonu Anthonia –Chuks -Assistant Secretary. Others are: Oremade Oluseyi -Treasurer, Egunmba J.O – Financial Secretary,Dere Wasiu Abiodun – PRO, as well as Isah Baba –Welfare Officer and Oguamanam G.O, who was returned as Ex Offio member.
Mr Oboni, who spoke on behalf of the newly elected members of the Executive, expressed appreciation to the entire staff and Management of NEPAD Nigeria for the success of the elections. He thanked the electoral body for their transparency and fairness and promised to do his best to lead the Sports Club.
