AFRICAN PEER REVIEW MECHANISM/GOVERNANCE DEPARTMENT

The Department is one of the four Operating Departments of NEPAD Nigeria headed by a Director with two (2) Divisions namely; Democracy, Political & Economic and Management, Corporate & Socio-Economic

The statutory functions of the Department are as follows:

  1. Providing Secretariat and administrative services to the APRM National Focal Point and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the National Council on APRM and other management committees of the APRM;
  2. Liaising with the APRM Continental Secretariat in South Africa, Development Partners and other critical stakeholders on APRM issues;
  3. Ensuring the Implementation of the APRM National Programme of Action (NPoA) through facilitation, coordination, sensitization, tracking, etc.
  4. Provide technical, coordinating and administrative support services to the National Council on APRM and National Joint Committee on Monitoring and Evaluation of NPoA in collaboration with PRS Department;
  5. Liaising with Development Partners and interested donors to the APRM process in collaboration with Planning, Research & Statistics Department;
  6. Organising nation-wide networks and convene workshops for sharing of experiences and best practices with a view to address constraints experienced in the implementation of Nigeria’s National Programme of Action (NPoA);
  7. Participation from time to time in regional and international meetings concerning NEPAD National Progammes;
  8. Election observation; and
  9. Any other functions that may be given from time to time by the National Coordinator/Chief Executive Officer
