AKOBUNDU MAKES CASE FOR ICT DEVELOPMENT … As Staff Training Winds Up at NEPAD Nigeria

The National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer, NEPAD Nigeria, Princess Gloria Akobundu, has said that the entire globe is technology-driven and called on the staff of NEPAD Nigeria to be abreast of all it takes to be part of the continuous evolution in Information Technology.

The NEPAD Nigeria boss, who stated the above, Thursday, during a one-day training workshop for staff of the Administration and Finance Department of the Agency, said the importance of training in the activities and schedules of the average Civil Servant could not be overemphasised. While challenging participants at the workshop to ensure that they achieved the best from the session, Akobundu urged them to take seriously every part of the exercise.

Speaking further, the NEPAD Nigeria CEO, who was represented at the event by Mr Emmaunel Edogbanya, Deputy Director (Admin), also, called on the staff not to rest on their oars after the training, but to ensure that whatever they had learnt was applied effectively to their job, stressing that it was only by so doing and through constant self-education that they would continue to remain relevant in their fields of endeavour.

The One-day Training on Data Mining, Applications and Utility Software, according to Engr. Etom Akpama, lead facilitator of the training, was organised for selected staff of NEPAD Nigeria to train them on the analytical processes designed for extracting or exploring hidden and predictive information from large databases, which may be used for future purposes. Also speaking, Dr. Albert Onochie, Director, Administration and Finance, NEPAD Nigeria, said those who were being trained would be expected to not only deploy what they had learnt to their job at the Agency, but to also step down the training they had received to others. He promised that the training would be a continuous exercise.
