INDEPENDENCE DAY

The National Coordinator and the Chief Executive Officer (NC/CEO) Princess Gloria Akobundu and the Management of NEPAD Nigeria wish to facilitate with staff on the celebration of this year’s Independence Day. October 1st every year has become remarkable in the life of Nigeria as the nation remembers her transition from the colonial rule to Independence.
Princess Gloria said that the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, introduced the “Change Agenda” with so much emphasis on fight against corruption, diversification of economy and empowerment of women and youths in the country.
Akobundu said that this present administration shares similarities with the mandates of NEPAD especially in the area of sustainable development and empowerment of women and youths.
The NC/CEO stated that the NEPAD Nigeria in driving the socio-economic agenda of the present administration particularly in the areas of job creation, capacity building, skill acquisition, empowerment and good governance sensitization has empowered 366 and 1320 women, youths and vulnerable groups in its various skills and programmes, among others.
She asserted that in line with the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration job creation agenda, the beneficiaries of the skills acquisition are now self employed and self reliance, thereby, reducing unemployment in the country
The National Coordinator further stated that the Agency within the year, trained all the directorate cadre officers as well as in-house capacity building for other staff.
Gloria Akobundu in view of the various achievements of NEPAD Nigeria commended the entire staff for their unflinching support and enjoins them not to relent in their commitment to duty.
The NC/CEO wishes the staff and Nigerians at large a heartfelt Independence Day celebration.
