The newly appointed National Coordinator/Chief Executive Officer of NEPAD Nigeria, Hon. Princess Gloria Akobundu upon assumption of office, tasks staff of the Agency to strive to fulfil the dreams of the founding fathers.
In her opening speech, she noted that NEPAD Ngeria has a distinct role to play in the lives of every Nigerian. This she said is on the backdrop of the strategic direction of NEPAD themes which covers all facets of humanity from Agriculture, Poverty Reduction, Environment, Governance Gender and other cross cutting issues.
Hon. Akobundu added that becoming “better” for her entails not only REBRANDING, but also working out a NEW APPROACH that will bear positive results in NEPAD.
The National Coordinator/Chief Executive Officer in her maiden speech identified Rebranding, Reworking and Re-launching NEPAD, Human Capital Development, Working with Development Partners and Economic diversification with emphasis on Agriculture as the four planks she will adopt towards delivering on the mandates of NEPAD.
She also launched “Nigeria Today”, a magazine that highlights areas on topical issues in Nigeria.
She assured staff that the Agency will be repositioned to deliver to Nigerians and the region the visions of the founding fathers. The NC/CEO implored members of staff to commit to this vision in line with the change agenda of the present administration.
